This book was written as a tribute to late historian Fred E. Long who wrote Conquering The Alleghenies in 1966.

Kevin J. Stiver is a young historian and author who also wrote about the forgotten mining village of Glen White, PA, that was at one time located two miles beyond the World Famous Horseshoe Curve.
